Bar Guide 50/6000
Customer requirement
The customer required a solution for machining bars and tubes up to six metres in length. The bar feed system needed to be easy to load, as bar end machining of the bars was planned. In addition, diameters of up to 50 millimetres had to be guided with precision. A key requirement was that the lathe be completely safe, so that it was impossible to come into contact with rotating parts.
Implementation
The bars are loaded into the custom solution from the rear or from above, enabling safe and easy handling. Bar diameters ranging from 10 to 50 millimetres can be machined reliably. The safety concept has been fully implemented and integrated into the lathe to ensure stable and safe operation.
Bar Guide 150/4000
Customer requirement
The requirement was to machine ball screw shafts four metres in length. The bar guide had to be easy to load and capable of accommodating diameters of up to 100 millimetres. Tool-free adjustment of the guides and various operating modes for different machining steps were required. Here too, the safety of the lathe was a top priority.
Implementation
The bars are loaded into the custom solution from the rear or from above. Three independently positionable steady rests serve as guides and can be flexibly adjusted. Diameters ranging from 12 to 150 millimetres can be machined. Adjustment is tool-free. Multiple modes enable different applications on the machine. The safety concept, including machine integration, was fully implemented.
Bar Guide 43/3000
Customer requirement
The customer wanted to machine three-metre-long ball screws without affecting the performance of the lathe. Loading had to be straightforward and supported by an automatically opening protective cover. The requirement was for a guide capable of handling diameters up to 43 millimetres whilst ensuring maximum safety.
Implementation
The bars are loaded into the custom solution from the rear or from above. The performance of the lathe spindle was fully maintained. Diameters ranging from 10 to 43 millimetres can be machined with precision. The system requires a footprint of only around 0.6 square metres. The protective cover opens automatically at the end of the programme. The safety concept, including machine integration, was implemented.
Bar Guide 33/2200
Customer requirement
The aim was to guide two-metre-long bars using a simple spindle extension. Machine performance must not be compromised. Loading should be straightforward and accommodate diameters of up to 63 millimetres. The machine used was a DMG MORI beta 800.
Implementation
The bars are loaded into the spindle extension from the rear. The performance of the lathe spindle was fully maintained. Diameters ranging from 10 to 65 millimetres can be accommodated. The space requirement is only around 0.2 square metres. The safety concept and machine integration were successfully implemented.

Customer requirement
Until now, stainless steel tubes have been guided freely on an open support. The tube lengths ranged from 1,200 to 2,200 millimetres, with a diameter of 33 millimetres. Other diameters should also be possible. The changeover should be tool-free. Loading should take place from above, and a stop with a repeatability of ±0.1 millimetres was required.
Implementation
Bars up to 2.2 metres in length can be loaded from above into the enclosed spindle extension. A stop with a repeatability of ±0.1 millimetres has been integrated. Conversion to other diameters is tool-free. The space requirement is approximately 0.6 square metres. The safety concept, including connection to the conventional lathe, has been implemented.
